I Don’t Know You, I Don’t Work Here

While it’s important to keep up a modicum of civility in the corporate juggernaut that is Midtown, it’s also equally as paramount to keep your distance from those around you. Like your closest friends or even your boyfriend of three years, they could turn their back on you at a moment’s notice. You don’t want to be too close, merely act it with just the right jelly coating of sincerity.

Outside of work, running into these people could prove fatal–giving them far too much of a glimpse into “who you are”–you know, the type of person you’re permitted to be on the weekend. And this can always be held against you when you least expect it. One kind of has to act like Lenny Belardo to survive, and this includes the inner mantra, “I don’t know you, I don’t work here.”
