A Positive, “Can-Do” Attitude

A positive, “can-do” attitude and an ability to quickly learn new tasks, handle multiple processes and maintain strong organization of work will ensure future success within the company. Finally, candidates need to be comfortable with repetitive tasks requiring high accuracy, manual data entry and self-management.

Sign me up. No, really. There’s nothing more enticing–glamorous-sounding–than the notion of “repetitive tasks” that one should be comfortable with. I mean, humans are descended from monkeys, no? So why shouldn’t we be comfortable with repetitive tasks? What’s more, we wouldn’t want to do anything that wouldn’t ensure future success within the company, so of course, a positive, “can-do” attitude is a must.

What “can-do” means to one person, however, can mean something entirely different to another. To employers, it might mean: can our office workers sacrifice their hopes, dreams and outside interests to fulfill endless and lengthy tasks punctuated by drudgery? Surely! To an employee, the actions that might fall under the umbrella of “can-do” could include the voice in their head telling them, “No don’t kill yourself today, wait to use the rest of your vacation time.” “Can-do!” And while you’re at it, you might want to get a candida cleanse, too. Christ knows you’re going to be drinking a lot of alcohol to enable you to perform those repetitive tasks, which will, in turn ensure not only a successful place at the company, but also an overactive candida. But allegedly when you have a job, there’s nothing your health insurance can’t do.
