Sitting Is The New Smoking

As the masseuse played by Rene Russo aptly points out to Robert DeNiro in The Intern, “Sitting is the new smoking.” Yes, that’s right, its seemingly harmless effects have come to reveal the crushing of organs, the gathering of spider veins and the fatness of ass.

And yet, just as is the case with knowing the detriment of smoking, no one seems to want to acknowledge the cold hard facts, preferring instead to go on as they are, slaving away in front of a computer that brings them no amount of money capable of restoring their soon-to-be permanently fucked health. But hey, it’s just a job right? Not at all an entity designed to murder you.
