A hammer-toting man shot by the NYPD in Midtown today is, sadly, not very shocking news. 1) We all want to brandish hammers during our presence in Midtown and 2) The NYPD tends to shoot people on a regular basis now.
Although the hammer man, now identified as David Baril, had gone on a hammering spree earlier this month in Union Square, taking his act to Times Square proved fatal. Police don’t want you fucking with corporate shills. Those are the people they protect most efficiently, which is why they’re expected to work through frightening occurrences like gunfire. Your salary should condition you for total numbness in a crisis, after all.
