Work Mantras: “I Will Make It Out Of This Alive”

In work life, there is a separate set of mantras one must say to oneself in order to cope with the day to day. From “I won’t go into work hungover today” to “I will actually do work today” (not that there ever is any), every office worker has something they tell themselves before heading into their cube that’s supposed to positively reinforce “good behavior.”

And yet, the one phrase that’s more useful than any other is: “I will make it out of this alive.” Because there’s truly nothing more lethal than the office, with its understated, slow-moving method of killing your soul, and therefore, you as a person. But with just the right amount of recitation of this particular catchphrase, you might just be able to remember you’re still a living person, and not a complete and utter zombie. Especially if you get it needlepointed onto a patch that you secretly sport underneath the lapel of your blazer.
