The Prosaicism of Cube Conversations

When your life is confined to a cube, there is a tendency to forget how boring you sound whilst talking about trivialities you deem important to other people–particularly if you’ve already made the transition to Westchester, which is just a stone’s throw from death.

No one wants to hear about the video game you spent playing all weekend or how you would never deign to go to Brooklyn–it’s too far from Westchester. And they definitely don’t want to know about your kids’ various sports activities or where they’re planning to go to college. Yet, this is exactly the sort of noise pollution that emanates from cubes as you walk by, or worse, sit in close proximity to a group of hens.
