Onboarding

Onboarding can be defined in one of two ways: as “organizational socialization” that “refers to the mechanism through which new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviors to become effective organizational members and insiders” or, simply, a wasted day spent learning about sexual harassment during which you could have enjoyed your final hours as a free person.

Onboarding is yet another of one of the many cultish terms in the dictionary of corporate speak that sounds more like one should be joining a pirate’s or boat’s crew rather than a workplace. In any case, you’re better off jumping ship.
