My Favorite Childhood Memory Is Not Working

When you’re a child, you look at every adult as though they couldn’t possibly know what they’re talking about. When they tell you to enjoy your youth, you nod and smile, all the while thinking how fantastic it’s going to be to become an adult. You never imagine that these olds could possibly have any insight.

But upon finally reaching the age when you are forced to work, it hits you like “Baby One More Time” that they were right all along. They were trying to warn you and you didn’t listen. With your unsullied youth came unshakeable arrogance and a belief in the notion that everything is better when you’re older. Little did you know that, in retrospect, your favorite childhood memory would be not working.
