The thing about people in management is, not only are they psychopaths, but they also have this maddening need to feel loved by the employees they subjugate. Hence, they will tend toward making extremely lame jokes that you are forced to laugh bombastically at lest you get fired for not having a “sense of humor.”
It is indeed rather unfortunate that companies don’t give their office workers free and unlimited supplies of La Mer for all the fake laugh lines and crow’s feet that managers inflict upon once youthful and vibrant people. On the one hand, laughing to keep from crying is the best medicine, but on the other, can’t we all just go about our jobs and not pretend to get along?
