Lateral Moves

In the corporate world, there’s a misconception about moving “up” in the company. Typically, one is only able to make what is known as “lateral moves.” This is another esoteric corporate term that is simply a polite way of saying, “You’re in a dead end job, and you reached your growth point the second you got hired.”

But, because placation and suppression is the name of the game in this thing called cube life, a “lateral move” is all you have to justify getting a higher salary. And so, whether you started as a junior bitch and graduated to a senior one, you’re ultimately always doing the same thing for about fifty cents more per hour.
