While in Bey’s mind, the saying goes, “I woke up like this,” in a civilian office worker’s mind, it usually goes, “I woke up for this?” As you wriggle and and writhe in your bed, wrestling to physically and emotionally come to terms with being awake and all of the ramifications this entails, you might question the meaning of life, why you’re doing what you’re doing and what makes you keep doing it all in the span of seconds.
And yet, you will trudge to the bathroom, put your face on like the inner drag queen you are and forge ahead to collect your financial bounty. After you’ve gotten over the commute hurdle, there is still the actual being there that you must come to terms with throughout the day, again prompting the inquiry, “I woke up for this?”
