For the Benefit of the Company

“For love of country” is a phrase that has long ago been replaced by “for love of the company.” Rather than worry about what’s good for one’s nation–or even oneself–it is most important to worry about the ways in which the company you are a slave for work for can benefit from your actions.

Gone are the days when one could simply “leave work at work.” No, you’re expected to think about work all the time–in essence, eat, breathe and sleep your profession. Not only is this crucial to you maintaining your job, but also mildly excelling in it. Moreover, if you’re caught thinking thoughts that areĀ negative toward the company, you will be executed fired and/or made to feel like a piece of shit. Basically, it’s like clapping for Tinkerbell: even if you don’t believe in it, you have to pretend as though you do.
